A town finding its way back.

On August 24, 2026, a fire tore through Old Town Newhall, taking with it businesses, art, and gathering places that this community had built over generations.

Rise From The Ashes follows the owners, artists, and neighbors at the center of that loss — not to dwell on how the fire started, but to capture how a town shows up for itself afterward.

This documentary does not take a position on the cause of the fire. Its purpose is to uplift the people rebuilding Old Town Newhall, not to speculate or assign blame.

We are an independent production team donating our time and skill to tell this story right, and your support is what keeps this project moving forward.

Filming is happening through the fall of 2026, moving into post-production once interviews wrap. Rather than releasing straight to YouTube, we are holding free community screenings on Thursday, November 12 at Laemmle Newhall, open to all of Old Town Newhall, with a Q&A after each showing.

Be in the room with the people who lived it.

Two free showings of Rise From The Ashes for the Old Town Newhall community, each followed by a Q&A with director Jose Perez.

This is a passion project, and every dollar goes straight into finishing it right: filming, editing, and getting it in front of the Old Town Newhall community it is about. Give any amount that feels right.

Principal interviews are underway at Locale Studios on Main Street, with Old Town Newhall community members and business owners sharing their stories. More filming is planned this month.
